Hardwood Care and Maintenance

You can Protect your newly installed hardwood floors and extend the life and beauty of your floors with these simple guidelines:

Wood is natural, it’s a product that enjoys being at 35% to 55% relative humidity, and between 60- and 80-degrees Fahrenheit. This is to ensure a long life for your NEW hardwood floors. Maintaining a consistent and relevant temperature in your home is crucial.

Sweep or vacuum your hardwood floors regularly. Built up grit can damage the finish and/ or surface of your hardwood floors. The wheels of the vacuum are clean and do not damage the finish. Be sure to NOT use a vacuum brush with a beater bar brush head.

Make sure to clean up spills promptly using only a soft cloth and hardwood approved cleaning products. Be sure to never use a damp/ wet mop on your hardwood floors. This can severely damage your floors. Do NOT use oil-based soaps, liquid or paste wax products or other household cleaners that contain lemon oil, tung oil or ammonia.

Be sure to keep all pets’ nails trimmed and paws clean and free of dirt, gravel, grease, oil and stains. Keep furniture casters and floor protectors on all furniture and make sure they are all clean and operate properly. Always remove shoes with spiked or damaged heels before walking on hardwood floors.
